The Story Behind The Vision

Target Life began in 2006 as a gap year program, built on the Prothesis concept developed by Abel Loedolff since 1998. With a background in engineering, military service, and high school teaching, Abel had a heart for structured discipleship and youth development.

During his teaching years, he led a home-based youth ministry attended by over 60 teens every Friday—focused not on trends, but on deep, disciplined discipleship. When the Prothesis model launched as a full-year program, it quickly proved to be a powerful tool for transformation.

Since then, the Target Life team has continued to grow and refine the program, combining biblical truth, psychological insight, and practical life training to prepare young adults for purpose-filled living.

After years of impact first in Pretoria and then expanding to Cape Town, Target Life is now also launching a new branch soon in the United States under leadership of Zelda Thompson.
